Dear Families,
My name is Gretchen Farris, and I am so happy to be your child's teacher! First Grade is definitely one of my most favorite grades to teach. It is a fun-filled year of tremendous growth, and the transformation from beginning readers and writers to skilled readers and writers is truly amazing!
I began teaching preschool in Austin in 1987 at this location, and in our exact classroom! I was inspired to attain my degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated from Texas State in 1995. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade for a total of 21 years.
I have been married to my Kindergarten sweetheart for 34 years! We have 3 wonderful children and 6 beautiful grandchildren, with another baby arriving in September! I enjoy reading, birdwatching, and spending time with friends and family.
My philosophy of teaching is that is should always be fun! Children love to learn, and it comes naturally to them. I use methods that have been successful in my many years of teaching. I became a teacher because I love children, and I want to support them and their families how ever I can. If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions, please contact me on my cell: 512-292-3663 or by email: [email protected].
Together we will have a great year!
Gretchen Farris
