Dear Families,
Welcome to September in First Grade! We have come so far in 6 weeks, and we only have 13 days until Fall Break! This week we'll continue to work on our own stories. Most of our scholars wrote stories about the recent storms. Our little ones are learning about the writing process: how to plan, draft, share, revise, publish, and celebrate! It's so much fun to read our stories to our friends. I also plan to ask the Kindergarten teachers if we can read to their classes. We'll continue to learn about characters in reading and their feelings affect their actions.
In math we'll be comparing the quantities of numbers up to 120 and continuing our math stories. In science, we'll be exploring magnets.
Thanks so much for your ongoing support, and thanks to everyone who sent in money for the flood victims! We are doing this for one more week. Please remember to read with your child and practice the sight words every night.
For the Children,
Gretchen Farris
P.S. First Grade is presenting Mexico for Global Citizen's Night on Thursday, Sept. 14th from 5:30 - 7:00. More info will come home soon. Please consider volunteering to help out!
