Dear Families,
I know it's only Wednesday, but I am preparing for next week! My husband and I are celebrating 36 years since our first kiss, and we are going out to the hill country to relax for a couple of days. Mrs. Gemar will be teaching in my place on Monday and Tuesday, and I know she will do an excellent job. Of course, the students are super excited! Whenever I have a sub, the kids won't be bringing home books, because it is a lot for the sub to manage, but homework packets will come home as usual. Please have your First Grader read, read, read, no matter what!
The light has come on when it comes to tens and ones, so we will be building upon that knowledge to include hundreds. We will also be working closely with our 120 charts to become very familiar with number patterns. We will explore what presidents do in Social Studies, learn about motion in Science, and continue with plot, comprehension, sight words, and word families in Language Arts.
I hope the time change is a smooth transition for you all!
For the Children,
Gretchen Farris
